FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Report on GEORGIA HERITAGE COALITION.org, by J. A. Davis
As the Georgia legislature opens its session, several have asked for a statement regarding the state flag by the
Georgia Heritage Coalition.
It is now obvious the bill for reforming the referendum on the state flag has gotten considerable attention from the
public, the media and most importantly, the elected lawmakers of Georgia.
Later this week a significant list of bipartisan supporters in both houses for the fair
solution of this issue will be released.
Heritage voters in Georgia are considered by many to be the largest stealth block of
voters in the state. Without a lot of attention they quietly removed a number of politicians in Georgia from office
who were labeled as heritage haters.
The University of Georgia Political Science school identified around 158,000 voters in the
most recent state election which seemed to defy previous voting patterns. GHC estimates two to three hundred thousand
friendly voters who will cross party lines when motivated toward heritage causes.
We have recognized signals from Governor Perdue and the leadership of both parties in the
legislature. If this is a true indication there is room for discussion about a fair vote referendum, we stand ready to
support these efforts and those who faithfully work toward their accomplishment. Our mission is a simple one, give the
people a fair vote in July and accept the will of the people. This issue will never end as long as choices are rigged
to eliminate a major symbol in the voting choice.
On the other hand, if it is the policy of our elected officials from the top down to thwart
the will of a large portion of the electorate, it is our intention to continue to expose those who deny the people a
free and fair choice of their own.
GHC is a organization made of leaders and members of a dozen interest groups such as veterans, religious groups, immigration reform,
descendants dating to the Ogelthorpe Colony who have banded together as grassroots activists. Our website
www.georgiaheritagecouncil.org is rated as one of the top two political sites in Georgia.
