FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Report on GEORGIA HERITAGE COALITION.org, by J. A. Davis
Three months have passed since the Georgia Heritage Coalition began functioning. This report is divided in three
sections, Internal Affairs and External Affairs, followed by political commentary.
Members of affiliated organizations are free to copy and distribute all or any part of the report, and the media is
welcome to quote from it. Political comments are at the end of the report.
INTERNAL AFFAIRS
First, we should discuss the growing number of organizations whose leaders or members are
working with GHC.
The list includes The Sons of Confederate Veterans, Heritage TV, the Georgia Political Underground, he Southern
Heritage PAC. the Southern Party of Georgia, the Georgia Flaggers, the Military Order of World Wars, the Military Order of the Stars and Bars, Project Wave, League of the South,
Independent Black and White Christians and a group of Viet Nam Veterans.
Our mission is to serve as a coordinating source for the leaders and members without involving the organizations
themselves since most have tax status prohibiting some of the activities GHC undertakes.
As the word of our projects circulates, we anticipate adding more representation from the ranks of other
organizations concerned with the cleansing of American culture and history.
Our activities are guided by a Steering Committee made up of Jim Dean, Cobb County, Heritage TV; Mike Crane,
Morganton, Southern Party of Georgia; Woody Highsmith, Augusta, MOS&B; Jack Bridwell, Moultrie, SCV; Steve Scroggins, Warner Robins, SCV;
Joel Coleman, Southern Heritage PAC; Dan Roberts, Viet Nam Vets, Toccoa; and myself, Jeff Davis, Gainesville.
As the organization grows, additions will be made to the Steering Committee.
The biggest news internally is our website, georgiaheritagecouncil.org which has been shepherded thru it's start
and amazing growth by Mike Crane and Steve Scroggins. It is without doubt the finest magazine type service in the Heritage Movement. Presently the site
serves around 10,000 subscribers with organizational and kindred links to approximately 150,000 more viewers. In the most recent Georgia political website
ratings, GHC came in second, many places ahead of both the Republican and Democratic parties and political columnists.
The site features articles on all of the subjects in our platform, editorials, cartoons, book reviews, humor,
activities of the various participating groups, along with current news items. We are currently installing music from the Southland.
We will be announcing arrangements for contributions and purchases of heritage related materials via credit card within
days.
We are working on plans to upgrade our site to the best state-of-the-art multi-media site in Georgia. Once accomplished we will program video footage of
events and programs, audio programs similar to radio, music, art and full text of history and documents. Watch for news of the
latest developments.
We have set up a bank account at Southern Heritage Bank, Oakwood, GA
We continue to encourage purchase of the Deck of Shame distributed by the Southern Heritage PAC. If you need
order information contact Webmaster. They're a hoot and a collector's item to boot. (Joel & Tim, that should
be your slogan).
Copies of the Georgia Political Underground can be found on our website.
Looking now at External Activities:
Our seminars on Activism are going well. The most recent in Augusta turned out well thanks to the sponsorship of the SCV and Commander Nick Posey. In three month's time we have been encouraged
to see hundreds of loyal Southerns sign on to become activists in the upcoming political season, which to us is now. We now have about half our targeted
areas covered by willing grass roots troops with more coming.
We are pleased with the progress Elijah Coleman and his brigade are making with Project Wave. By election time it now appears as they will have
installed several thousand flag poles with the real Georgia flag throughout the state. You can sponsor your own permanent flag pole for a minimum contribution. If you don't
have Lijah's address contact this site: www.southernmessenger.org/flag_poles.htm.
It is true, trailer truck loads of yard signs are arriving regularly as part of the 250,000 that will be installed
between now and election. The signs can be tailored to your local races. If you need more information, contact our Webmaster or go to www.LetUsVote.org.
Watch for new strategies and entertainment from the Flaggers. They haven't let up, in fact, we're now seeing
multiple flaggings on he same day throughout the state.
The GHC Raffle Tickets are now available and distributed for donations thanks to Greg Hanson of Apple valley, Minnesota, who donated a Remington 1858 pistol. You bet it will fire, black powder
and all. Tickets are a donation of $l or more. Get yours on our website by credit card. The drawing will be on President Davis's birthday, June 3, 2004. You
don't have to be there to qualify. Tickets are available to all participating groups in the coalition on a 50- 50 basis. You keep half
of what you collect. Contact Chairman, GHC to order. Several SCV camps are already at work on it. Clear profit for the
camp and GHC needs some funds for our website.
The Coalition endorsed Kurt Cannon in the special election for Georgia House District 8. Kurt led in the balloting but without a majority faced a run-off with
Mr. Jenkins, who ultimately won by about six hundred votes out of around 8,000. Kurt is a good candidate, however his voter turn out in the run off
could have been improved. He may consider running in the Fall during the Presidential race when the turnout will be much
larger.
Both candidates favor a change in the referendum to include the 56 flag. That brings up an interesting point. The Republicans have lost two (all)
special elections since the last regular election. The winning Democrats both have pledged to support restoring the real
Georgia flag in the referendum. Is there a message here?
The GHC platform is clear. We will be campaigning (lobbying) for a change in the referendum on the flag from March
to the July primary which will include the 1956 Memorial Georgia flag. Teams are being formed to work the legislators at
home and in Atlanta. A select list of those who have opposed our position in the past will be notified in person they have the
opportunity to join us or oppose us. We will make no bones about it, oppose is oppose, and we play that game too. Look
at the casualties from the last election.
We are forming teams to recruit candidates where needed. We have ten times the activists to support them
from where we were last election. We have a quarter million yard signs going out plus thousands of flagpoles. We are working on localizing hand outs
and flyers.
We have the support of aircraft and lighter than air blimps for sign towing all over the
state. We have support from heritage foundations.
Every day we are getting volunteers with experience in media and past political campaigns. We will shortly
introduce our Press Secretary.
Our entire focus and we hope yours will be on the General Assembly in January. Our job is to many the impossible dream.
We see no option, win or lose, to give the good people of Georgia the opportunity to choose their flag including
the 56 state flag. That choice was promised and we ask no more than a fair opportunity to let the people vote. Some legislators can redeem
themselves or choose to retire, because we'll be there as long as they are, and after they're gone.
Finally, a personal commentary. Georgia has approximately three million
descendants of the Confederacy. Of this number slightly less than one and a half million are eligible to vote.
About 1,200,000 are registered. Unfortunately, not all of these support heritage ca uses, but upwards of 800,000 can be motivated to vote if they
see a cause.
Based on the communications I've had in the past two weeks with old friends from
other times, there is a motivation. It's not the flag, it goes much deeper than symbols. There is an uproar all
over the South taking place over Confederates being called Nazis and calling the Saint Andrews Cross a swastika.
Leave alone the historical foolishness of these statements since any fair minded person surely knows they are based on
hate with intentions to divide Americans at a time when we need unity more than ever.
We hear people theorize they are offended. That pales in comparison to the bigoted insult to Southern Americans
whose families all have a love of their heritage and these United States.
My buddies from WWII are outraged. My friend Lew Regenstein whose Jewish ancestors gave many lives for
the Confederacy is filled with resentment over being called a Nazi. Yes, and black friends have called to say how upset they
are remnding me of the estimated 80,000 blacks who loyally served the Confederacy.
Are we motivated?. I think it's beginning to look that way. If that is so, woe be to any Georgia politician who wants to
deprive our people of the freedom of full choice on the state flag because there's a lot more involved than a flag. We're insulted and you've just begun
to hear from us.
To all who view this throughout the world my kind greetings of the season for you and your families.
