2004 Independence Day Parade - Cumming
Saturday July 3, 2004

Sons of Confederate Veterans from all over Northeast Georgia gathered in Cumming for the Independence Day Parade on Saturday, July 3rd. Although the reenactors did not receive top billing, thousands watched as they marched through downtown Cumming. The crowds came to see the procession of antique steam driven tractors. These smoke belching agricultural monsters from the dawn of Georgia's Industrial Revolution were the top draw of the day.
Following directly behind these ear-splitting contraptions, the
reenactors were greeted by the crowds with loud cheers at the sight of
Confederate flags and with each volley of their musketry.
Not a single Barnes "rag" or Perdue flag adorned any entrant or
building along the parade route.
