Perdue's Lying Habit – Commentary by Steve Scroggins
Governor Sonny Perdue needs to seek help to break his lying habit. The old "tangled web we weave" cliche is very true, Perdue
is having to lie constantly to cover up or reinforce previous lies. Governor...Veritas Vos Liberabit, "the Truth will set you free."
If you have eyes, you've no doubt noticed the abundance of SONNY LIED, Sonny Is A Liar, and PUNT PERDUE signs and bumper stickers proliferating on the roadways, lawns
and vehicle bumpers all across the state. There were quite a few in Perry last Saturday.

At the Perry Perdue flagging last Saturday, the news lady from 13WMAZ interviewed me and others about why we were out there. She then asked the Governor
for his thoughts on the "flag protesters" outside. Sonny's response was----you guessed it!----another LIE.
"The people voted three to one affirming the Georgia flag that we have and I understand that some people are not happy about that and that's their prerogative to express that in any way they see fit."
Governor....how irrelevant is that???!!! You promised a vote that included the 1956 flag. That's the beef! That's our point! WHY are you talking about the bogus sham referendum from which the people's flag was conspicuously omitted? We told you before the March 2 Insult Referendum that such an insult would resolve nothing. See the links below.
Here are a few facts the governor does not mention. March 2nd was a presidential preference primary. The Republicans had nothing to vote for March 2nd, everyone knew that President Bush was the
nominee of the Republican Party....therefore, a greater relative Democratic turnout was expected. As it turned out, less that nine percent (9%) of the people of Georgia voted on March 2nd---second lowest turnout in twenty years.
In the March 2 presidential preference primary, only 789,390 people, or 20% of registered voters voted. In other words, 80% of registered voters
abstained, declining to vote in this insulting, choiceless referendum. Of that meager total, only 577,370 (or 15% of registered voters) voted for the Perdue/Chamber flag. Perdue wants
people to believe that 15% of the active registered voters made an overwhelming choice for his Chamber backroom-deal flag. Only 212,020 (or 5% of active voters) selected
the Barnes blue flag.
Here's your "choice" folks, choose between the flag voted "the Ugliest flag in North America" or choose this new politician's flag cooked
up in the backroom for the purpose of denying the people a choice. Folks, that's not a choice, that's an insult.
Of course, Perdue didn't mention that the overwhelming flag of choice for Georgians had been omitted as a choice. His contention that voters
"chose" his flag "three to one" is pure sophistry. It's a bold-faced lie covered by a technical truth. It's like saying that Saddam Hussein was elected
by an overwhelming majority of Iraqis....so that's PROOF that Saddam was a popular leader. It's true that Perdue's Chamber flag was overwhelmingly "chosen" in the same way that it's true that Saddam was overwhelmingly elected.
I keep hoping that Perdue will snap out of it and realize that the ONLY way to resolve the flag issue is to allow the people to have a Fair Vote. But then he keeps digging the hole deeper and deeper by telling more lies to cover the Big Fat Flag lies. Many
people now believe that Perdue is essentially saying, "that's my story and I'm sticking to it." If that's the case, then Perdue is definitely another one-term governor. Perdue must fix his lying habit, or the people will fix it in November 2006.
