The Deplorable Act of Savannah's Mullah-mayor – Commentary by Woody Highsmith

The news report that the NAACP-backed Savannah Mayor removed the two magnificent Confederate Portraits from the City Council Chambers is indeed shocking and deplorable. It is shocking because Savannah's Taliban Mayor and City Council have shown their utter disregard for Southern History, Heritage and culture. It is deplorable because the Savannah Taliban has hurt Savannah's History, Heritage and Culture to please NAACP and SPLC leaders.

Despite vocal statewide protests, Savannah's Taliban rulers are on a demolition campaign to wipe out all traces of the Confederacy to enforce a Resolution of the NAACP. To be precise, the NAACP, came into existence in 1909 with a noble vision, but now raises funds by race-baiting and blackmail to destroy honest history. Their stated goal is to eradicate all public displays that honor Confederate heroes or symbols---as if such ethnic cleansing would solve the current problems minorities face. If such fanatics are not stopped from pulling down historical treasures, they will extend their unholy acts, and cast a pall of terror over the whole South and Nation.

Southerners are as deeply shocked by the news of the removal and concealment (a violation of Georgia Law 50-3-1) of the Confederate Portraits as Buddhists and historians were at the destruction of the statues of Lord Gautam Buddha in Afghanistan.

Where is the tolerance and sensitivity Taliban Otis preaches about in regard to Southern Culture, History and Heritage? Will Savannah's City Council condone this Taliban-like violation of Georgia Law by the lackey of Julian Bond and Morris Dees? One city council member has already deployed the standard defenses, he labeled Johnson's critics as "divisive racists." How pathetically predictable. These hypocrites didn't seem to notice the white face of Taliban Bob Young in the same parody sitting beside Mullah Johnson. Taliban mentality comes in all colors.

The same Georgia Law that protects the Memorial Carving at Stone Mountain was supposed to protect the Confederate Portraits in Savannah. Will Stone Mountain be the next to suffer under the second Reconstruction under the reign of Taliban Mayors? Will it be dynamited like the Afghan Taliban dynamited Buddha carvings from mountainsides in Afghanistan?
