Some Current Concerns, How About You? - Commentary by J. A. Davis
"The principal for which we contend is bound to reassert itself, though it may
be at another time and in another form." ---Jefferson Davis
"Though written constitutions may be violated in moments of passion or delusion, yet
they furnish a text to which those who are watchful may again rally and recall the people. They fix, too, for the
people the principles of their political creed." ---Thomas Jefferson
It used to be that current concerns were fairly predictable as to
outcome. That is no longer true. The key players have changed in more ways than most citizens
know, or seem to be remotely interested in knowing.
Start out with our favorite subject, the Constitution. You know, the
one our Founders gave us that has been in contention between regions of the country
since the early 19th century.
Guess what? These are the same regions that disputed support for the
War of 1812, that saw three different attempts for New England and New York to secede from the
Union. The same regions that refused peace negotiations prior to the most destructive and unnecessary War
of Southern independence, are still at it. More recently, the so-called "blue" states were
rumbling about secession
following the re-election of Bush in 2004.
What are philosophical, social and cultural
differences usually translate into political differences.
We have seen the power of the country change like a yoyo through
different distinct eras of a never ending power struggle. Frequently, the struggle has had
major consequences with more to come.
Here are some current concerns that defy all our Founders determined in
limiting the government to a few dozen specifically delegated powers and reserving to the states and the people,
all others, including the right of consent to the actions of the confederated government of states. The
original thirteen were granted sovereign nation status in their separate treaties of peace with King George of Great Britain
following the first war for American independence. No one seems too anxious to talk about that.
Originally, we had a Constitution through which the thirteen sovereign, free
and independent states delegated specific powers while reserving all others to themselves and the peoples they
represented. Let's look at what we have now.
A president, intentionally derelict to his oath of office, fails to
protect the borders and the country from domestic invasion.
An executive administration that is more influenced in foreign policy by
lobbyists for the interest of other nations at great sacrifice to our own.
A president who is quoted as saying "the Constitution is just a GD piece
of paper."
An Attorney General who reportedly said
"The Constitution is a living document."
Liberal journalists have joined in support by claiming "the
Constitution is elastic."
To underscore this point, stating that the Constitution is "elastic" or "living"
is in effect a revolution, a coup d'etat. Joseph Sobran, in his essay entitled
"The Silent Revolution,"
expressed it this way:
The most successful revolutions aren’t those that are celebrated with parades
and banners, drums and trumpets, cannons and fireworks. The really successful revolutions are those that
occur quietly, unnoticed, uncommemorated.
We don’t celebrate the day the United States Constitution was destroyed; it didn’t
happen on a specific date, and most Americans still don’t realize it happened at all. We don’t say the
Constitution has ceased to exist; we merely say that it’s a “living document.” But it amounts to the same thing.
Bold emphasis above is mine. Let's contine our review of the fruits
brought to us by the loss of the Constitution and the limits it defined to restrain the central government.
A vast new welfare system for illegal aliens and more and more non
productive Americans, including health care that the rest of us must pay for.
This economic dependence on government gives reason for extreme concern and
Joseph Sobran is not very
optimistic that such dependence can be overcome:
Can the real Constitution be restored? Probably not. Too many Americans depend
on government money under programs the Constitution doesn’t authorize, and money talks with an eloquence
Shakespeare could only envy. Ignorant people don’t understand The Federalist Papers, but they understand
government checks with their names on them.
We have still more fruits realized from unlimited government...
National spending totally
out of control, with
debt mounting to the
point that even the most buoyant economists are warning of potential national bankruptcy and the gradual
disappearance of the middle class, as defined by the Marxists.
An administration that has secretly put in
place the first steps
of Globalist World Government with the North American Union
agreement removing U.S. citizens from the protections granted in the U.S. Constitution.
U. S. citizens are
slowly awakening and in
retaliation have removed the Republican party from power in the legislative branch of government. So much so that
the "blue" states faction that created so many problems in the early history of the country, New England and New York, now hold a
34 seat margin in the U.S. House. Any hope of returning to Southern leadership is out of the question for the
forseeable future.
The Republican party has headed back to its Whig beginnings and seems
headed in the same direction to oblivion. They could have maintained control of the U. S.
Senate with just one seat, George Allen of Virginia, which they lost by
the sheer stupidity of South-bashing, a
familiar theme
of the neocons now controlling Republican campaigning.
The Republicans in Georgia are falling into the same neocon trap. They
have managed to defy the Second Amendment by allowing
a bill (S.B. 43)confirming the right to
maintain arms in vehicles at employer parking lots to die in
the current session. Check the involvement of the Chamber of Commerce,
which boasts of controlling the Georgia legislature.
Worse, through the auspices of the the Republican leader in the Senate,
Eric Johnson,
the bill (S.B. 283)
to designate April as Confederate History and Heritage Month was hijacked and put aside because of the false
claim that it was a racist inspired bill to offset
Johnson's drive
to pass a Slavery Apology Resolution.
The
facts aren't
correctly reported, and are intentionally obscured.
The Confederate History bill was planned long before any mention of a
slavery apology. It was introduced, and then the slavery apology
business arrived as a planned hijacking of the Confederate History
bill. Proof? As of this writing there is no Slavery Resolution introduced.
This is not a criticism of the typical black person in Georgia. They
have Black History Month and
most would probably be happy to see Confederates honored, including the
blacks,
hispanics,
Indians and
Jews
who served in the Confederacy. The criticism is aimed purely at black
race-hustlers who are aiming for bigger things like reparations and a
reincarnation of the old House Bill 899 which
would remove every Confederate memorial and symbol in Georgia including the carving at Stone Mountain.
It is criticism for the Republican enablers of this whole ploy at the
direction of the national party neocons who
have made their renewed hatred for the South well known.
And yet, the Southerners keep electing them. Go figure. As bad as the
Democrats have been, most of them besides the
race-hustlers,
keep their mouths shut.
Here's what they don't tell you. Georgia
already has Confederate History and Heritage Month as
proclaimed each
April. Hundreds of towns and counties join the state in proclaiming
it. Confederate Memorial Day is
a state holiday by law. All the new legislation
asked was to make what has been in place more than a
hundred years to be made permanent like so many other acts declaring months and
weeks to honor various ethnicities and causes. Who are the
bigots? Who
are the racists?
Who are the hypocrites?
Don't you think it's about time we call them what they are and let the guilt point in their direction? Let's remind them in no
uncertain terms come election time.
There was a time not long ago when Southerners didn't need to engage in
foolishness like this. Times have changed. Those who care about their
heritage have become
activists for the truth.
We'd love peace and harmony for all. Most Georgians I know, black and white, feel the same way.
These are just some of my current concerns. A serious
movement to restore the
virtues of the original Constitution would resolve a lot of these concerns and put this country once again on the
path to the opportunity for every citizen of whatever ethnicity to have
the opportunity that is measured from their toes to the sky.
Liberty. It's still worth fighting for. The time for a renewed struggle to
restore the Constitution to practice has arrived.
How about your concerns? Let us know.
And, yes, we have more to come.
