"All Wee-Weed Up"? or Poo-Poohed? Commentary by J. A. Davis
Seldom do we at GHC get into language such as the title indicates. This language is
not of our making but rather emanates directly from the high and distinguished office of the
President of the United States. To be fair, we provide the complete context from the whitehouse.gov link below.
"There's something about August going into September -- (laughter) -- where everybody in Washington gets all
wee-weed up. (Laughter.) I don't know what it is. (Laughter.) But that's what happens."
--President Barack Obama, 8/20/2009, to
National Health Care Forum
[ Video here ]
Mr. Obama may have a point about Washington in general and his administration in particular...especially where he confesses ignorance
of the cause. This far into his administration (7 months),
it does appear that, not only is he in over his head, but he has
appointed a group of political hangers-on who can't pee straight to steer our ship of state. Examples?
Space precludes a complete
inventory, but let's just review the tiny tip of the iceberg: misguided and botched
stimulus plans (aided and abetted by Congress),
unprecedented bailout power grabs in the private sector in the name of 'crisis,' botched health care reform, repeatedly playing the divisive
'race card,' ring-kissing deference to the enemies of western civilization and the
Homeland Security SPLC
scandal and smear of law-abiding American citizens. The stonewalling on this scandal echoes the promised "transparency" illustrated
by the so-called "birthers" phenomenon. Obama could end it by simply producing a certified birth certificate, but one might think
the whole matter a red herring to diffuse attention.
But back to the President's potty remarks. The Washington press corps went into a frenzy to understand the President's phrase.
Bloggers speculated that the new phrase was perhaps
some special Chicago machine terminology and court idolators joked that "birthers would swear it was a Kenyan muslim phrase." Do a
Google search on
'all wee weed up' to find weeks of reading (news, blogs, etc.).
I've been around politics for more than fifty years. Some of the administrations I helped elect and served in had economic
problems, too. We dealt with them in the open and in the end in every case left the treasuries in better condition than we
found them.
If you haven't heard the latest news about our economy, let me fill you in. Today,
the news says our president has announced
that they have slightly missed their projections for the national debt forward for ten years by a mere TWO TRILLION dollars.
Obviously, in eight months they can't count straight either. No wonder we're all wee-weed up.
If you know anything about governmental projections you will know this is just an adjustable start that will grow and grow for
the next ten years or more. Count on it.
Cartoon by John Cole, Scranton Times-Tribune
The media doesn't seem to have much concern for the gang that misses an initial debt projection by around 30%, from seven
trillion to nine trillion and counting. If you had the time and you started counting a dollar at a time you couldn't possibly
reach even one trillion unless of course
your name is Methuselah, and he probably couldn't get there in his lifetime either.
Don't try to calculate where this money is going. I could give you some hints as we know who is calling the shots starting with
huge emoluments to organizations like
ACORN,
La Raza, some of the unions, preferred financial
institutions,
insiders who have
been running PR campaigns for strictly partisan politics. Or you might just look for a rat hole.
Some who voted for this mess are beginning to ask, "What can we do?" In some rare cases of repentance, some have said
"Can't we undo it?" Some have even said to themselves, I
"acted stupidly."
The sad news is that there are no grounds for impeachment for incompetence. Stupidity is protected by the Constitution. And
2012 will be the test of whether a majority is "double stupid."
Hang on though, my experience dealing with governmental tyranny is that those responsible panic and turn to unscrupulous and illegal
means to pursue or cover up their maladies. It's all in the Chicago handbook. That is grounds for impeachment. Those who don't
know that I have a little experience with this in my long association with Richard Nixon. I didn't have anything to do with
Watergate, those who did thought I was too square to be included. And they were right.
It's bad enough to have to deal with Obama's wet pants. It
will probably get worse when we have to deal with some poo poo.
Have the faith of our fathers. The Constitution will prevail but our nation will suffer until it does.
"Though written constitutions may be violated in moments of passion or delusion, yet they furnish a text to which those who
are watchful may again rally and recall the people. They fix, too, for the people the principles of their political
creed." --Thomas Jefferson, letter to Joseph Priestley, 1802.
