Tolerance, Kindness And The Contrary - Commentary by J. A. Davis
Occasionally I take some time out to try to
put an ear to the ground and get some idea of what vox Populi might be extolling.
Lately, I have been conscious of a well contrived campaign by a very
vocal minority of left leaning Americans of questionable allegiance, who
seek ways to divide the country.
Their current ploy is to write some of the most
vitriolic hate messages
regarding the Confederacy.
It takes on the ingredients of a feeding frenzy. Sort of copycats who pick up on
a theme of hatred bolstered by untruths they obviously either accept or
don't seem to care about authenticating.
You can usually spot it right away when they refer to the Confederate Naval Jack
as the stars and bars. That is only a barometer of what is yet to come.
By the second of third paragraph they're usually into a comparison with
Nazi Germany, global terrorism, including comparisons to Bin Laden, and
lately, Confederates and those today who honor their Confederate
heritage are traitors.
Here is another observation from the ear to the ground. Every time some
of this intolerant hate appears somewhere some Southerner heretofore
imbued with tolerance and grace, gets a belly full and gets themselves
a battle flag, whether to fly or display as an insignia on a shirt,
license plate, belt buckle or jewelry.
It is a growing righteous indignation.
This is not to say that the "useful idiots"
as Lenin described his followers, will subside. To the contrary, their hatred will
continue in the format supplied by those who think for them by feeding
the idiotic frenzy they project at the moment.
They do get themselves on thin ice quite frequently and need to regroup.
They ran into resistance recently when even the liberal press began to question
the inaccuracies directed at General Nathan Bedford Forrest. There just
wasn't any substaniation and it left some liberal editor's posteriors
exposed.
That doesn't slow them down though. Note it's not just the Confederacy
they use to divide the nation. Regular targets are George Washington,
Thomas Jefferson,
James Madison, Andy Jackson, among other giants in
the development of a Constitutional Republic.
Long ago we warned they would go after your Judeo- Christian beliefs,
and they have.
Those who are indignant about what is taking place are becoming more and more
conscious that these assaults are not on the Confederacy alone, they
are anti American assaults on these United States, ironically being
conducted by crafty utilization of one of our greatest liberties,
freedom of speech.
Yes, indignation is growing. It is even spilling over into the North
where people of character do exist. Patriotism is not exclusive to the
South. In fact, tolerance and kindness are still the greatest
attributes in the battle against intolerance and hate.
A good example of this that I might pass on to you is something I was
recently reminded of that is not well as known as
many poignant quotes history provides for this man whose birthday we
will shortly celebrate on June 3rd.
The last written message of President Jefferson Davis shortly before his
death was inscribed in a visiting girl's autograph book.
"May all your paths be peaceful and pleasant charged with best fruit,
the doing good for others."
There are many in this country who would
prefer to make that our creed as opposed to hate and intolerance perpetrated by the
useful idiots.
