Notes From The Busy Season
Commentary by J. A. Davis, 5/04/2010
"The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil Constitution, are worth defending at all hazards; and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks.
We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors: they purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood, and
transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer
them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men."
--Samuel Adams
We have just completed one phase of the busiest part of the year for many active descendants of Confederate Veterans, Confederate History and Heritage Month.
There is more to come for some states that observe the memorial holidays at some upcoming date.
Starting out, acknowledgement must be made for the fine poetry that Joan Hough provided
and dedicated to the staff of hard working volunteers at the Georgia Heritage Council. I'm humbled that such a talented lady would take the time to even
think of me.
The CH&H Month was an especially busy one this year since we were challenged as never before by those who would remove any mention of the Confederacy from
all pubic view---we call them the "heritage deniers." When these miscreants
criticize the history of the struggle for American liberty and Independence,
one that continues today, they have become so rude, hateful and untruthful.
Unlike the earlier days not too distant when there was blue and gray and some mutual respect, there is a certain group of people who are working at provoking
Southerners in hopes we will react in some way they can call traitors or potentional terrorists. Fortunately, most of us have maintained our dignity and
our birthright by well thought and intellectually superior reactions to hair brained political correctness
and thinly disguised attempts at political
payback for their own reversals at the hands of "the consent of the governed".
Some of our readers know that several members of the GHC crew do a large part of the work of the Public Relations Committee for the Sons of the Confederate
Veterans. Steve Scroggins and Jim Dean joined me in working with our Commander-in-Chief, Chuck McMichael, in crafting his leadership and public position
on the attempted political lynching of the governor of Virginia regarding his proclamation on CHM.
The SCV has had more exposure to the public than at any time in its history with hundreds of columns, pro and con, in newspapers and appearances on virtually
all the national television cable networks, some several times by different spokespeople.
In the meantime, our GHC website continues to jump rapidly with new viewers every day and is regularly listed in the worldwide search engines along with a
growing list of fans/friends at our Facebook site.
"Nothing fills me with deeper sadness than to see a Southern man apologizing for the defense we made of our inheritance. Our cause was so just, so sacred,
that had I known all that has come to pass, had I known what was to be inflicted upon me, all that my country was to suffer, all that our posterity was to
endure, I would do it all over again."
--Jefferson Davis
"We could have pursued no other course without dishonour; and as sad as the results have been, if it had all to be done over again, we should be compelled
to act in precisely the same manner."
--Robert E. Lee
Now, please, a little attention to the dangerous road on which we proud Southerners and proud constitutionalist Americans are about to embark against our own
desires. Like our forefathers, we have no choice. Our nation, or what's left of it, is being stolen. Right before our very eyes. The perpetrators are
making no secret of it. They are beefing up every sleazy scheme of their past and coming up with some new ones to completely dominate upcoming elections
in 2010 and 2012.
We hear great exultations from Tea Party folks and Republicans about how they expect enormous victories. Let this old campaigner convey a little caution. As
the highly regarded John Fund has warned, the hoped-for turn-around may be sabotaged before it begins. ACORN has been dismantled into a now almost double or
triple sized organization that is difficult to track because they have gone partially underground. They will be leading their vote turnout nonetheless and
it will include every effort to count as many new votes, now into the millions, whether they are real or dug up. Yes, dug up.
Add to that the open organization of millions, some say more than ten million illegal aliens who will be voting, one way or another. If you think they don't
have voter documentation just look at the phony citizenship and work docs they already have.
There will be a push to add Puerto Rico as a state, whether in time for 2012 is questionable. With the present majorities it is almost a certainty that it
will happen and in doing so nail down another eight to ten congressional seats which will equal eight or ten electoral votes long into the future.
That is the theft of a nation in wide open view by whatever means.
The only question remaining is will we allow it to happen?
God save the South and God save America--- with our Constitution. Without it, there is no America at all.
"I love the Union and the Constitution, but I would rather leave the Union with the Constitution than remain in the Union without it"
-- Jefferson Davis
"The principle for which we contend is bound to reassert itself, though it may be at another time and in another form."
-- Jefferson Davis
