Augusta Riverwalk Litigation Update, by J. A. Davis
As you read this our GHC Secretary-Treasurer, Lum Petitt, our GHC
Director, Woody Highsmith and I will be in Augusta for what could be an historic occasion for the entire heritage
movement throughout our nation.
We hope to be joined by others who have generously supported the case
GHC filed against the mayor and commissioners of Augusta.
The August 19th
release is just about as valid today as it was when written. For those
who need some background, the best we can offer right now is the Augusta review.
Our hearing is Wednesday, March 29th.
It is difficult to tell what will take place other than both sides will
present a number of motions. They will be acted on.
GHC and the various organizations and individuals who have joined with
us in this litigation are well represented by Steve Boynton, a highly regarded
constitutional attorney from Washington, and a long time Savannah, Georgia attorney,
Don Donaldson, a true Southern patriot.
We know we're in for a fight with long term implications for every city
and county in Georgia. We also know we are up against what seems like a unlimited
amount of taxpayer dollars against our meager resources which for the most part
are voluntary $5, $10 and $25 contributions. This might give you an idea
of the strategy we are up against.
We will keep you fully informed on what
takes place right here on the GHC website.
Join us in praying for justice delivered in the restoration of our
beloved symbols and the rectitude of our cause. There ain't no end to doing good.
