Atlanta: There they go again! by J. A. Davis

You may not believe this but...there they go again!
Atlanta is digging deep in the pockets of Georgia
taxpayers to support their bid for the NASCAR Hall of Fame. But Shhh. You're not supposed to know that Governor Sonny Perdue has
pledged "at least 25 million" of your tax dollars. What else he's pledged is G.O.K.-----God only knows. The reason it's G.O.K. is because it's
a secret and none of your business to know. God knows.
Didn't we go through this secret financing
stuff in the recent legislature? You've got to give the usual suspects
(check the list in the AJC report) credit, they keep trying.
I think it's called the Tyrone theory of persistence.
What bothers me is the arrogance in trying to
justify the right to take your money without any authority and under the cover of self-righteous beliefs they're using your
money without your permission because you don't have any say in the matter.
It reminds me of this same group of usual suspects, Perdue included, who said Georgians had no right to say what
their state flag should be and saw to it they were never given a fair chance to voice their opinion or vote. They took
it upon themselves to secretly make the decision for us all.
Well, there they go again.
I've tried to be reasonably rational about the political future of Mr.
Perdue. I've felt all along that his duplicity in the flag issue (flat out lying) would be harmful but maybe not quite enough to do him
in. Then the pancakes begin to stack. He endorsed the open door immigration policies of George Bush. Sonny has overseen the shipping of Georgia
state jobs overseas. He got involved with the usual suspects (see the AJC article)
in furnishing your tax money for things like the Atlanta Aquarium and the Atlanta Symphony, a FOR-profit corporation that competes in free
enterprise against Georgia taxpayers.
While Perdue campaigned on ethics
in government, he is the first Georgia governor ever to be found guilty and fined for campaign ethics violations. Now we
find that he's part of the 25 million dollar NASCAR cover-up. Then there's
that false testimony under oath relative to the State Patrol. You may have some
pancakes to add to the stack. Frankly, this is enough for me. It's time for a change.
Strange things happen. I never thought I'd be agreeing with much Roy
Barnes has to say. Please look at his quotes in the article about openness in government. Of course, at the moment, Roy
doesn't need the contributions of the usual suspects in Atlanta. He likely wouldn't get much anyway since Sonny has converted
his donors to his own political interests. I guess that sort of sorts out the character and integrity of all concerned.
Believe it folks, we have the best state government money can buy.
