English and Spanish language flyers that tell about Santos Benavides,
the highest ranking Hispanic in the Confederate army, have now been posted on the Georgia Heritage Council’s (GHC)
web site in both Word and PDF formats. To access the flyers, click on “Link & Info”, at the top of the GHC’s home page. Then click on “Flyers and Documents”.
These flyers should be given out to all interested parties and
especially to local Hispanic shops and to all Hispanics we know. They should also be distributed at country
and town fairs, and have your children carry them to school and tell about Benavides and why he fought for states’
rights against the U.S.
Get the word out to Hispanics. There are many of them, and they are
potentially our friends. Let them know their kin fought for the Confederacy, and tell them why most Hispanics
chose to fight for the CSA, a federal republic, and not the centralized, U.S. republic, which remained federal in
name only.
